What is Solidarity Kitchen?
Solidarity Kitchen is an independent collective that provides food and other forms of assistance to those who need it most. The Solidarity Kitchen collective was formed out of a need to respond to the ubiquitous problems of poverty and hunger, which are especially noticeable in crisis situations, with solidarity and mutual aid.
Solidarity Kitchen activists participate in all activities related to assistance: raising funds, procuring, preparing and distributing food. Food is distributed directly to those in need at several places in the city of Belgrade.
Values that we are cultivating and applying are those of mutual aid and direct democracy, and we will not tolerate discrimination of any kind. As we believe that the fight against hunger should not be used as a means for advertising and self-promotion, we do not cooperate with companies, NGOs, political parties, or organizations that aspire to become political parties.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the goal of Solidarity Kitchen?
The goal of our organization is to provide as many meals as possible to those in need, in accordance with the resources available to us.
How does the meal preparation work?
Volunteers / Activists – chefs prepare and pack food in their homes, in accordance with their availability – once to a couple of times a week. One kitchen makes at least 20 meals. We try to organize as many various and nutritious meals as possible, on a weekly basis.
How does the distribution function?
Volunteers / Activists – drivers take packed food from chefs and deliver it to those in need. The food reaches the users in two different ways: it is either delivered directly to the families, or it is distributed at our checkpoint.
Who is provided with the meals?
Meals are provided to everyone who reports that they need them, as well as to everyone who shows up at the checkpoint. The most affected by the current state of society are the homeless, people who have lost their jobs and support large families, single parents, collectors of secondary raw materials, and they make up the most of the users.

Support Us Through Donations
Solidarity Kitchen is fully financed by donations, but we also accept grocery donations as they can be supplied to our kitchens or to users directly.
We only accept donations made by natural persons. Solidarity Kitchen does not collaborate with companies, NGOs, or political parties and we are not funded by the state. As our work aims to encourage mutual aid and practicing solidarity, treating us as an opportunity for tax relief, team building, philanthropic project, or a “solidarity for rent” goes against our core principles.
We need to constantly replenish stocks, because groceries are consumed quickly and the number of users is growing daily. If you wish to donate groceries, you can call +381 63 145 5930 so we can arrange their collection.
